Join us this Sunday as we continue our sermon series on meals with Jesus at 10.30am. Well meet to pray at 10am. Summer Kids Club starts at 10.15am. Looking forward to seeing you!

Last Sunday, it was intimated that we will have congregational votes on the proposed adjustment to the congregations of the Upper Braes Churches, comprising Blackbraes and Shieldhill, Brightons, Muiravonside and Slamannan Parish Churches.

The vote will be held on Sunday 25th August 2024, with each congregation voting after morning worship at their place of worship. Ahead of this, each Kirk Session will be forming an Electoral Register (a list of those entitled to vote).

If your name and current address are already on the Brightons Parish Communion Roll, then you will automatically be placed upon the Electoral Register. You will need to take no further action.

If you are a regular worshipper here, but are still a member of another congregation, and you wish to participate in the vote of adjustment, then you should arrange to hand in to our Session Clerk, Judith Norton, a valid Certificate of Transference to transfer your membership or “lines” from your previous church before 4th August.

If you are a regular worshipper here, and not a member of this or any other congregation, then the Kirk Session can add your name to the Electoral Register as an “adherent” so you are entitled to vote. If you wish the Kirk Session to consider this, you should obtain a form from our Session Clerk, complete it and return it (even via email) to them before 4th August. Judith's email is sessionclerk@brightonschurch.org.uk

Copies of the proposed adjustment to the four congregations are available at the front and rear doors of the church and on our webpage. These two Bases (the documents that describe how the churches will come together), one for the Union and one for the Local Mission Church, will be what we all vote upon.

For Blackbraes and Shieldhill, Muiravonside and Slamannan they will also vote on whether to accept Rev Scott Burton as their minister. Individuals must be present on the day of the vote to be able to take part so, unlike political election votes, we do not offer postal or proxy votes; as such, we hope to see you present on 25th August if possible.

Please share news of this with others, and continue to pray for our unity and path forward.

Any questions about any of the above please do contact Judith.
